Jules's passion is training small business owners in handling their own PR. Here are just some examples of the excellent results her students have achieved.
Melbourne Headache Centre
Roger O’Toole from the Melbourne Headache Centre is a physio who treats patients with an amazing technique using therapeutic massage around the neck and vertebrae to eliminate migraine. He came to Jules because he wanted to try doing his own PR to promote his clinic. H
He felt that his business and technique needed explaining and that PR would be the most effective way to get his message out. Together, Jules and Roger decided to use a case study from one of his patients as the ‘hook’ for his story and after writing his media release, he pitched it to the Herald Sun.
The journalist loved the story and it ran in the first few pages of the paper along with a big photo. Then things started to take off!
3AW saw the story and contacted Roger for a radio interview at about 6.30am that morning. By the time he had gotten into the office, the phone as ringing off the hook and he had been contacted by all the major TV news crews. They came in at different points during the day to shoot their news segments and that evening the story ran in all the national news.
Chee Pearsell from Turkish Murkish sells her gorgeous Turkish towels from her online store. She had tried to do some PR before she trained with HYOPR, but with no success. Having tried social media and advertising, Chee was looking for a more effective way to promote her business and one that was cost-effective for a small business, so she decided to learn how to do her own PR with Jules.
Having tried social media and advertising, Chee was looking for a more effective way to promote her business and one that was cost-effective for a small business, so she decided to learn how to do her own PR with Jules. One she understood what the media was looking for, and how to pitch her ideas, she was off and running! Chee negotiated a deal with a glossy magazine to provide them with some of her towels for their subscribers, and in return they gave her a profile feature, inclusion in their Christmas gift guide and editorial in the following issue as well.
Then she approached Studio 10 and offered some towels in exchange for a minute’s air time, where they not only featured the towels on models but also prominently displayed her web address and provided a discount code to their viewers.Chee continued to get a mixture of editorial in exchange for products, as well as feature articles. She said it took 4-5 months of constant publicity before things really started to change for her.
She went to a big trade show and actually had people lining up to place orders (a first for her) and the sales on her website really picked up and took off thanks to the editorial mentions as well as the inbound links from media outlets that raised her SEO. Chee is totally sold on PR these days. She is fantastic about keeping up the momentum and the results speak for themselves!
